intro to birding (group trip)

$225.00

One of the silver linings of the pandemic is a renewed interest in the natural world, especially for the winged creatures outside our windows.

On this trip, field trippers will explore the Union Bay natural area, a renowned birding spot in the Montlake neighborhood — home to herons, eagles, warblers and wrens. Guests will learn strategies for identification including distinguishing patterns and markings, recognizing calls, and identifying trees and flora to describe location. We’ll also learn how to properly use binoculars (bring your own or we’ll have some to share) and how to employ guide books and apps in the field.

Roniq Bartanen is a birding guide and author of the popular blog She Birds. She strives to share the joy of birds and nature through inclusivity and accessibility.

Book this field trip for up to 4 people (priced for group) by emailing info@fieldtripsociety.com with your date requests. Birding is an activity that can be enjoyed year-round, but trips will be rescheduled in the event of extreme weather.

This field trip will last approximately 90 - 120 minutes. Meeting place and directions will be given upon booking.
