Cass was the founder of Plant Amnesty - dedicated to preserving urban greenspaces and providing education, resources and advocacy to avoid malpruning, aka “tree topping”. To honor her life that ended too soon, designers, gardeners, students and volunteers have created the Cass Turnbull garden at the former residence of philanthropist and civil rights activist Kay Bullitt. This local treasure will serve as a community resource and public garden in Capitol Hill beginning this summer. Tours are already sold out, but keep an eye out for announcements for upcoming workshops and events.
