Oxbow Farm and Conservation Center

hello summer

Who else is feeling like a butterfly ready to burst from its chrysalis? This summer promises parties, hugs, visible smiles and loads of fun. Who knows what the future will bring so soak it all up while you can with some of these fun DIY field trips…

Historic Seattle bike tour - take a self-guided bike tour of architect Paul Thiry’s exceptional buildings. Thiry is best known for his work as the principal architect of the 1962 Seattle World’s Fair and for bringing European Modernism to the Puget Sound. Choose from the Downtown, Park Path or North Loop to see these marvelous structures up close.

Packed picnics - explore a new neighborhood and restaurant with takeaway picnic packs. Café Presse on Capitol Hill offers “the Pique-nique” pack through June , the Pantry is offering takeaways highlighting local ingredients from the forest or coast , or consider having your adventures provisioned by Windward Adventures — artfully created meals delivered to the trail, campsite, marina or beach.

Seward Park Audubon guided nature and birding walks. After over a year of COVID-closure, the Audubon Center is back with FREE guided nature walks and owl prowls. Reservations are required and fill fast, don’t miss out!

U-pick berry farms - strawberries in June, raspberries in July and blueberries in August! Find a farm near you and get picking!

Visit Blake Island - starting June 18th, you can hop on Argosy’s fast foot ferry (a 30 minute trip from the Waterfront) to spend the day or weekend at this magical spot that is only accessible by boat. Pack a picnic or dine at the Longhouse Café, hike the woodland trails, beach comb on five miles of shore, rent a kayak or paddle board, take a guided nature walk or learn about the Coast Salish tribes. This is the one of the best kept secrets in Seattle … and awesome campsites too.

Shakespeare in the Park July - August in parks all over the city, live performances are back!

Take your dog to happy hour at Growlerz - an off-leash dog park with beer and food trucks? YES please.

Tired of zoom cooking classes? Learn from the best and brightest, in-person at Kurtwood Farms this summer (almost sold out, better act fast).

Farm Days at Oxbow Farm in Carnation - hike the trails, shop the farm stand, picnic in the fields. We are especially excited for the Sip n’ Stargaze event August 12th … fingers crossed for clear skies to watch the Perseid Meteor shower.
