Oxbow Saturdays

diy summer fun

Who knows what fall and winter will bring? Let’s make the most of summer while we can!

Visit the Bloedel Reserve on Bainbridge Island. This sprawling nature reserve is offering timed ticketing through July 26th for groups up to 5 people. Find tranquility at the Reflection Pool or do some forest bathing in the Woodlands. Bring your watercolors and practice painting en plein air!

Learn to fly fish! Emerald Water Anglers offers 1/2 day and day guided fishing trips for groups up to 3 people. We are huge fans of their women’s fly-fishing program. If you’re not ready to commit to a day on the river, consider a casting class to get started.

Take an idyllic day trip to Vashon Island. Cruise the winding roads with farm stand stops along the way. Grab takeout from the Ruby Brink and picnic under the trees at Nashi Orchards. The orchard is open by appointment for small groups with plenty of space to spread your blanket. Cap the day with a kayak rental from Vashon Adventures and grab some peel and eat shrimp from Gravy for the ferry ride home! Better yet, stay the weekend at Vashon Adventures’ new glamp spot!

Tis the season to fill up your freezer with summer bounty! Find a u-pick farm near you and get after all those raspberries and blueberries!

Oxbow Saturdays. Take a trip to Carnation and the Oxbow Farm & Conservation Center. Your admission fee or membership helps to support regenerative farming, habitat restoration, environmental education and native plant production. Bring a picnic lunch, hike the Oxbow Trail, bring your binoculars for birding and connect to the land!

The Pacific Bonsai Museum is open again to the public Tuesday - Sundays … mini marvels will delight.

Don’t forget to wear a mask and practice social distancing! We’re only going to get through this together, stay healthy!
