april

Whether it’s a cherry blossom or an unfurling fiddlehead, April is a month to marvel at nature’s beauty and bounty. Here’s how we’re doing it …

Whether you’re just starting off or a seasoned gardener, April and May are packed with plant sales and workshops to get you going. Our favorite resource for information is the UW’s Elizabeth C. Miller library (filled with over 15k garden books and magazines!) and calendar (with every plant sale under the sun!) — all open to the public.

Don’t have space for a garden of your own? Be a part of something bigger at the Beacon Food Forest, the Rainier Beach Urban Farm, Oxbow Farm, or Seattle Tilth’s garden at the Good Shepherd Center.

Join field tripper and geologist David Williams at the Burke Museum April 16th discussing his latest book Wild in Seattle: Stories at the Crossroads of People and Nature.

Hear Evelyn Frances at the Volunteer Park Conservatory April 19th experience ambient music amongst the botanical wonders.

Celebrate Earth Day and protect Seattle’s river at Duwamish Alive on April 19th - join community volunteers working to remove debris and care for salmon habitat and upland forests.
