For us, January is a time for hibernation and reflection. After a busy holiday season, it’s time to turn inward, and revel in the stillness of winter.. Here’s what will get us out of the house this month …
The Seattle Art Museum has some incredible monthly programming coming up at SAM Body & Mind. Visit the Olympic Sculpture Park on January 11th and get your heart beating with Dance Church, visit the Dreamstation or experience the healing vibrations of a sound bath. All free and open to all ages, first come, first served.
Escape the chill with a visit to the tropical plants at the Volunteer Park Conservatory (free on the first Saturday each month), the UW Biology Greenhouse (Wednesday afternoons and second and fourth Saturdays from 10 -2) or Amazon Spheres (first and third Saturdays each month).
Embrace winter with a snowshoe tour — REI offers guided trips at Snoqualimie, Mount St. Helens, Baker and Rainier.
It’s a terrific time to duck in to museums, galleries, the revamped Seattle Aquarium or the movie theater — play tourist in your city!
Wishing you a healthy and hopeful new year.
